The route can be divided broadly into 4 Legs :

| Leg 1 - Southampton to Istanbul. |

| Leg 2 - Istanbul to Atyrau, Kazakstan. |

| Leg 3 - Atyrau to Almaty, Kazakstan |
 |
| Leg 4 - Almaty to Chiang Mai, Thailand. |
In total, the entire journey will be about 18,000 km, or just over 11,000 miles. In practice, with diversions to find better roads, it will no doubt increase.
